Plan your transport
Check for each quote: does the service end at the vehicle or at the final position? Is waiting time included, and how is extra time charged? Is the vehicle dedicated or part of a combined tour? How are packaging and empties handled, what liability terms apply and how long is the quote valid? If the quote contains an assumption that is wrong – such as ground floor instead of third floor – point it out before placing the order. If anything is unclear, ask for written clarification.
A comparison grid for two quotes
Create a simple table and enter for each quote whether an item is included, charged separately or open: type of run (direct or tour), handover point, loading and unloading, staff on site, waiting-time rule, return transport, packaging, empties, liability terms, validity. Only when every line is filled is the price comparison meaningful.
Why the cheapest quote is not always cheaper
A low base price may exclude items that are charged on the day, such as carrying into the building or waiting at the gatehouse. Conversely, a higher quote may include services you would otherwise have to organise yourself. If in doubt, ask exactly what is included.
What matters
- Compare the scope line by line rather than just the total
- Check the underlying assumptions for accuracy
- Clarify open points in writing before ordering
