Separate transport preparation from subsequent commissioning. The person responsible for the equipment determines whether specialist checks are required before or after the journey. Package count, external dimensions and confirmed handling instructions are particularly relevant to planning. State whether stands, measuring heads and cables share the same case. This allows the complete shipment contents to be discussed before collection, rather than discovered when loading begins.

Does transport include commissioning at the destination?

This should not be assumed. Explain who will receive the instrument and take responsibility for preparing it for use. The transport scope and any additional tasks must be discussed separately and expressly agreed.

For calibration equipment, the journey and specialist appointment are closely linked. Name the recipient, receiving point and any existing job reference. Describe the instrument together with its assigned accessories so that the receiving organisation can identify the full scope it is expecting.

When a valuable device has to go to the manufacturer or a service partner, the return journey is as much part of the project as the outward one. Often it is still unclear at the time of the request when the repair will be finished. Describe both journeys, even if the second date remains flexible.
