Plan your transport

For planning it matters whether individual devices in boxes or complete racks are being moved. For racks, give external dimensions, loaded weight and whether castors, plinths or transport locks are fitted. Assign cables, drive trays and spare parts to the relevant device. Name two contacts: the person releasing collection and the person accepting at destination. Shutdown, data backup and recommissioning are the responsibility of your IT team.

Matching the maintenance window with the transport date

A Saturday maintenance window is not yet a confirmed transport date. Allow buffers between shutdown and collection and between delivery and restart. Share both times with us; we can then advise whether an out-of-hours slot or delivery the day before makes more sense.

Access at the data centre

Data centres often have their own delivery zones, advance registration and ID requirements. Ask the operator about the notice period, dock height and route to the data hall. These details feed into vehicle choice and scheduling.

What matters

  • Describe single servers and loaded racks separately
  • Align collection release with the maintenance window
  • Assign trays, cables and spare parts to each device
