Plan your transport
Record each work with a photo, dimensions including frame or plinth, weight and current location. Note special features such as glazed frames, delicate surfaces, unframed canvases or loose parts of a sculpture. Whether a work needs an art crate, a climate frame or just padding depends on the object – existing notes from the artist or a gallery help. Taking works off the wall and rehanging them are separate tasks that you should request explicitly or assign internally.
Allocation list: from old place to new
A simple table with work number, photo, old location and new target room saves a lot of time at destination. Mark the packaging on the outside with the same number. Each work can then be taken straight to the right room, and nobody has to open crates to see what is inside.
Clarifying values and cover early
Corporate art often has an insurance or inventory value. State it in the request. The goods value alone does not establish the scope of cover; clarify the cover you require separately before placing the transport order.
What matters
- Record each work with photo, dimensions and weight
- Mark glazed frames, unframed works and loose parts
- Clarify removal and hanging as separate steps
